About Ascension Cemetery
Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY, is part of the Calvary & Allied cemeteries network. It was established in 1966 by the Trustees of St. Patrick’s Cathedral to serve Catholic families relocating from New York City to the surrounding counties, using 200 acres of woodland purchased in 1960.
The grounds include five developed sections for ground burial and a chapel mausoleum complex offering both crypts and niches. The entrance features a carved depiction of Christ’s ascension, and a natural pond leads toward the mausoleum, giving the cemetery a reflective, park-like atmosphere.
